You don’t have to run a marathon to be a fundraising superhero, now you can help save lives with a leisurely stroll…

Introducing our new event, Grand Walk, that makes fundraising fun for all the family!

Grab friends, family members or colleagues and join us for a spectacular sponsored walk around Bristol’s Ashton Court. Soak up the sights in one of the South West’s most beautiful estates – from the stunning grounds, woodland and even free-roaming deer as you take on a relaxing team challenge.

Suitable for all ages, choose between a 1.5km or 5km route, where even the littlest legs can use their steps to support sick kids across the South West. You might even spot some familiar sculptures along the way.

Take the first step…

Once you’ve completed your challenge, it’s time to collect your medal and celebrate! Enjoy a selection of mouth-watering local food vendors, with something for everyone, or bring a picnic.

Then, sit back and relax as the kids immerse themselves in the family-friendly entertainment. From face painting to cracking photo opportunities, sign up for a day of good fun for a good cause, today.

Anyone! Everyone is welcome to attend but everyone must register to take part and all under 18s must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the event.

Grand Walk isn’t a race, it’s a family friendly sponsored walk and is not timed. The event is for everyone to enjoy, whatever their pace. Please ensure you are fit and healthy and if you aren’t sure if you can cover the walking distance, please seek advice from your doctor before registering.

We will be in the hands of the Great British weather! Therefore, please prepare for sun, wind and rain. Please bring sun cream, a hat, waterproof clothing and wear shoes that are suitable for uneven terrain. You will be given a Grand Appeal fundraising t-shirt to wear on the day.

The 1.5km route is accessible for all including buggies and wheelchairs, although there will be some inclines and declines on the route.

The 5km route covers paving, grass and uneven stoney ground as it goes through the woods at Ashton Court and features inclines and declines so isn’t suitable for buggies and wheelchairs.

The planned route may be subject to small changes.

Well behaved dogs on short leads are welcome to join you on the walk. However please be mindful that some attendees may not be comfortable around dogs, so please keep your distance as required.

There will be some catering stands in attendance but feel free to bring drinks, snacks or a picnic with you and please dispose of your rubbish with care.

The address is Ashton Court – Church Lodge, Ashton Road, Long Ashton, BS41 9LX.

We are asking that you travel as sustainably as possible. Ashton Court is accessible by bus, walking and cycling.

Directions to Ashton Court and details of the bus service which serves the estate can be found on the Bristol City Council website.

A map of the site is available here.

The nearest car park for the event is Church Lodge. There are approximately 165 spaces available on a first come, first served basis so arrive early for ease.

There is a charge for the car park, and you can pay using coins or via the app Ringo:

  • £1 for up to 1 hour
  • £2 for up to 2 hours
  • £3 for up to 5 hours
  • If paying via Ringo, there will be an additional admin fee.
