For the fourth year running, we’re lighting up Bristol Children’s Hospital with a dazzling Christmas display.

Find out about the seasonal spectacle we’ve got in store for Bristol, how it’s supporting sick children, and the outstanding local businesses and individuals who’ve sponsored this festive project.

Each year, our supporters help us give a truly magical present to sick kids at Bristol Children’s Hospital: a glistening, animated Christmas display, projected onto the hospital throughout the holiday season.

The hospital, on Upper Maudlin Street, is now lit up with festive illustrations for 2024! From 4:30 pm until 10 pm every evening until 1 January 2025, our light show is available for all of Bristol to see. If you’re an early bird, you’ll also be able to spot the lights in the morning from 7 am until 8 am.

As always, our display stars a collection of our most festive Gromit Unleashed sculpture designs – ‘Noël’, ‘Prima Featherina’, ‘Santa Paws’, ‘Postie McGraw’, ‘The Snow Gromit’, ‘Fleece Navidad’, ‘Jingles’, ‘Gingerbird’ and ‘Nutcracker’.

This year’s design celebrates the power of gift-giving. Patients, their families and the public can watch each sculpture design pop out of a colourful Christmas present alongside a cluster of bright, white stars.

How our hospital lights support patients

All this Christmas magic is for the sick children who need to spend the holidays in a hospital bed. Young patients miss out on so many Christmas celebrations, which means it’s vital to organise something special just for them.

Our display makes sure that they are surrounded by festive cheer and sparkling lights through the dark nights of December. When possible, Bristol Children’s Hospital patients can head outside to see the animation on any night they wish and take a few moments to escape from their day-to-day reality.

Support from the incredible sponsors of our 2024 display will also go towards funding The Grand Appeal’s Patient Hotel

For future families, the [Patient Hotel] will be a vital support. They’ll be able to focus on what really matters – being together and supporting their child through recovery.

This groundbreaking facility will be a lifeline for families during their most challenging times, offering a comforting home away from home just moments from Bristol Children’s Hospital. As the first of its kind in the UK, our Patient Hotel will provide a peaceful space for parents to stay with their children and will feature dedicated therapy facilities.

Thank you to the generous businesses and individuals from across the South West who’ve made our 2024 seasonable display possible.

Bristol Children’s Hospital is a beacon of light for so many families throughout the year. Not only is our display a cracking bit of festive fun, it’s also a powerful way of highlighting the vital work that the hospital does over the holidays for the entire city to see.
