Introducing the Gromit Unleashed Miniature Collection

Read all about it! Hidden treasures were uncovered at Bristol Museum. 

Reports have emerged that four one-of-a-kind Wallace & Gromit artefacts were hidden in plain sight within the collections at Bristol Museum and Art Gallery.  

As part of Gromit Unleashed 3, and to keep returning trail-goers on their toes, we teamed up with talented artists and Bristol Museum & Art Gallery to bring you something a little different this summer.  

The miniatures were on display among the collections from 1 to 31 August.

The first two of these precious artefacts were generously donated by Castle Arts Foundry. The keen Wallace & Gromit fans among you might recognise these cast solid bronze statuettes as miniatures of the truly iconic sculptures unveiled in Nick Park’s home city of Preston.  

Wallace can be seen in those famously troublesome techno trousers alongside his faithful pal Gromit, who’s busy catching up on the latest headlines in the Evening Lamp-Post.  

And, lurking not too far away, it’s that notorious criminal Feathers McGraw wielding the techno trousers controller and ready to wreak havoc! 

Feathers as you’ve never seen him before, was perfectly captured (though not behind bars) in oil on canvas as The Bird with a Diamond Earring as painted by Giuliana Terran. 

Lastly, our collection wouldn’t be complete without something truly priceless, a treasure that must surely have been crafted by an artisan jeweller. Created by Tom Astley, The Chicken and the Egg was a sight to behold.   

All four miniature artworks will go under the hammer at the Gromit Unleashed 3 auction in October, helping to raise funds for sick children and their families at Bristol Children’s Hospital and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St Michael’s Hospital.
