Virgin Money London Marathon
Run the world's greatest fundraising marathon
Since the very first race back in 1981, the London Marathon has become the world’s most famous fundraising race. 40,000 runners take part on the day, many competing in fancy dress costumes for good causes, and places are highly sought after in this top event.
Places are obtained via the London Marathon ballot, which is now closed for 2021 entry. Successful ballot places are being announced on Monday 8 February.
This year The Grand Appeal has been lucky enough to be given one charity place, and we are looking for own keen fundraiser to take on the challenge!
If you entered the ballot…
Well done! We wish you the best of luck in securing a place in the 2020 London Marathon.
If you are successful, please get in touch. We’d love for you to run for The Grand Appeal or Cots for Tots and help raise money for sick children and babies at Bristol Children’s Hospital and St Michael’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. You can register as a fundraiser here.
There is no minimum sponsorship if you have secured your own place, just raise as much as you can so we can continue our mission to help every brave young patient at the hospital and the unit.
Looking for a charity place?
This year we were lucky enough to be granted one charity place in the London Marathon 2021 and we want one of you to represent us.
Our charity place requires a registration fee of £100 and a minimum sponsorship pledge of £2,000.
While it is wonderful to have so many amazing supporters who are happy to help, we are keen to find the very best candidate to fill our special place.
To register your interest fill out our application form so we can find out more about you and your fundraising plans.
We will be in touch to confirm that we have received your application and will make our choice in the first week of March.

“I’m proud to have raised so much money for such a great cause. I went to bed with the sound of the crowd ringing in my ears 'Go on Ben, you've got this!'. An incredible experience I'll never forget.”
