The Entertainer Raises £1 Million for Sick Kids

Our friends at The Entertainer have officially raised £1 million for sick kids at Bristol Children’s Hospital… And it’s all thanks to your spare change!

15 years of fundraising

Since 2011, The Entertainer has worked in partnership with Pennies, the micro-donation charity, to support sick kids.

Every day for the past 15 years, staff at their South West stores have asked customers to round up their purchases to the nearest pound. The pennies they’ve collected have all been donated to The Grand Appeal, where they’ve made a life-changing difference for young hospital patients.

Stores from Cornwall to Wiltshire have taken part in the fundraising. The Grand Appeal is an ideal partner as Bristol Children’s Hospital cares for over 150,000 children each year from across the region, meaning its impact is widely felt in local communities.

Thanks to The Entertainer’s fantastic fundraising efforts, these donations of just a few pence at a time have added up over the years, enabling the South West stores to hit the unbelievable total of £1 million.

Celebrating the one-million mark

We kicked off the celebrations at The Entertainer’s Cabot Circus store in Bristol, presenting staff with a giant, million-pound penny to mark their amazing achievement.

The giant penny was also taken to the Activities Centre at Bristol Children’s Hospital so patients and the hospital’s Play Team could join in with the celebrations.

The penny will remain on display in Cabot Circus before touring stores across the region. Keep an eye out for it in your local store over the next few months!

The difference you’ve made

Every step of the way, The Entertainer has been counting your pennies and sending them to The Grand Appeal in a monthly donation. These regular donations have ensured that sick kids can access the support they need, as soon as they need it. They have helped fund everything from cutting-edge medical equipment and pioneering research to music, arts and play in hospital.

This grand total wouldn’t be possible without your care and commitment to fundraising.
