The first purpose-built Patient Hotel for children in the UK will begin construction soon, but we still need your help this Christmas.
This pioneering project will give young patients a vital space to continue their recovery and rehabilitation once their hospital treatment is complete – a calm, supportive environment for children and families to rebuild strength, confidence and independence together.
Children like Thomas, aged eleven, know how important this step can be. After being diagnosed with Brittle Bone Disease, Thomas came to Bristol Children’s Hospital for intensive physiotherapy to strengthen his fragile bones.

Helen, Thomas’ mumWhen your child is in hospital, and they’re in pain, you want to do everything you can to help them relax and be comfortable. Being able to do that together as a family in a calming environment is really important. That’s why I want to share my story with you and urge you to support The Grand Appeal’s Patient Hotel.
The Grand Appeal’s dedicated Patient Hotel will allow many more children to benefit from that same level of ongoing therapy and rehabilitation once their treatment in hospital is complete – helping them make the transition from hospital to home in the best possible way.

Do you want to help children like Thomas?
Build a better future for young patients and show your support this Christmas.
Together, we can create this unique development that extends the hospital’s exceptional care beyond the ward, giving families a brighter, stronger future. Please give today and help children take their next step towards recovery.
Helen, Thomas’ mumHis diagnosis has had a huge impact on not only Thomas but us a family. Seeing him go through the pain of so many fractures and the strain it has had on his day-to-day life has been upsetting for us all. Thomas went from being a really active boy to a full-time wheelchair user in a matter of months.

The Grand Appeal’s Patient Hotel
With your help, we are creating a purpose-designed Patient Hotel, which will be transformational for patients and families across the South West and South Wales.
This ground-breaking new development will provide accommodation for patients, their
parents and offer therapy and rehabilitation under one roof.
Many very sick babies and children spend weeks or months as inpatients following traumatic incidents or if they were born with a serious medical condition. When they are ready to leave the hospital environment after intensive treatment and care, patients will now be able to benefit from therapy and rehabilitation in a less clinical setting.

The facilities will support children with a range of medical conditions, including those undergoing rehabilitation following a brain injury, those recovering from complex orthopaedic surgeries, children with lifelong medical conditions such as cystic fibrosis; and children who need daily input from dieticians, speech and language therapists or nutritionists.
We are soon to begin construction of our pioneering Patient Hotel, but we need your help to make it a reality.
