Every year, over the Christmas season, approximately 350 babies are born in Bristol at St Michael’s Hospital.
It’s certainly a special time of year to have a baby and should be full of joy. Unfortunately, not everyone’s experience of birth is easy.
This December, many families from Bristol and across the South West will travel to St Michael’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, often unexpectedly, so their baby can undergo the life-saving treatment it needs.
Whether they need a little extra care from the NICU team or not, we want to celebrate all the beautiful babies born this Christmas.
We’ve teamed up with St Michael’s Hospital to offer every parent a precious Christmas baby bauble as a congratulation from hospital staff.
This bespoke bauble, made by Bristol Blue Glass, will be a wonderful keepsake.
While 2020 will always be remembered as the year these babies were born, it’s also been a significant year for so many other reasons. The families in our care have faced many challenges, but we hope with this special token they can end the year on a high.
To add extra sparkle to St Michael’s Hospital, each family can choose to have another bauble hung in their child’s name and displayed on the official hospital Christmas tree.
Through funding free accommodation for families, state-of-the-art equipment and projects like these to ensure families feel supported and comforted, we’re here for patients and parents that need care at St Michael’s Hospital.
