Patient Stories

Imagine the pain upon learning you have suffered a suspected ectopic pregnancy only to find out that in fact, you are carrying three healthy babies. This incredible story belongs to Lynda.

Once Lynda and her partner had recovered from the shock of this huge surprise they were immediately referred to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St Michael’s Hospital. The Unit offers the highest level of care throughout the South West region and it was essential these three tiny bundles of joy received the most expert of care as a high-risk pregnancy.

In December the world was introduced to little Theodore, Esmé, and Florence who were born at St Michael’s at 33 weeks. Flash forward to 2019 and we had the absolute pleasure of meeting month old Esmé and Theodore and mum Lynda at Cots for Tots House. Florence meanwhile still required the care of the amazing NICU team as she gained strength each and every day.

Cots for Tots House has proved crucial for Lynda throughout her stay; ensuring that she and her new family can still be close to Florence, never missing a moment. Moreover, Lynda has formed relationships with other first-time parents and is both encouraged and comforted by their inspirational stories.

Lynda and her partner now look to the future with their three new additions and will remain ever thankful to both the NICU Team and Cots for Tots House for not only providing a homely place to stay but fostering a community full of support and reassurance, to which Lynda and her family now belong.
