We are proud to work in partnership with Major Donors, Grant-Making Trusts and Foundations to make an impact on the care and treatment of sick babies and children at Bristol Children’s Hospital and St Michael’s Hospital.
Our partnerships have a far-reaching impact on children’s health and care, providing ground-breaking technology or patient facilities to save more lives and improve paediatric care at a regional, national and international level.
In 2011, we launched a £1 million appeal to provide four extra cots at St Michael’s Hospital Special Care Baby Unit, so that fewer babies in a critical condition had to be sent out of the city for life-saving care.
A generous £50,000 donation from the AlFayed Charitable Foundation, set up by Harrods owner Mohamed Al Fayed and led by his daughter Camilla to support sick and impoverished children, went such a long way to helping us reach our £1 million target in a matter of months and fund the four cots, as well as starting work on family accommodation for families of babies that were cared for on the unit.
Thanks to major donations from Children with Cancer and Garfield Weston Foundation, we were recently able to fund a pioneering 3T MRI scanner and intraoperative scanning suite, placing Bristol Children’s Hospital among the very best in the world for paediatric neurosurgery and revolutionising the treatment of children requiring surgery on the head, brain and spine
