The end of last year marked the opening of our new parent’s room for Ward 31 and 32 of Bristol Children’s Hospital. Thanks to Willmott Dixon and the Marson Family’s incredible support, the room has undergone a remarkable transformation, and can now provide patients’ families with a warm and welcoming space to recuperate, and make themselves a drink or something to eat with a brand new fitted kitchen, seating area, and outdoor seating area.
At the opening was the Marson family, for whom the ward holds a very special significance as daughter Anna (pictured above) spent time in the Surgical Ward at just five days old. For parents of young patients, a dedicated room can make an incredible difference given the emotional and practical strain that having a sick child in hospital can cause. The transformed room will not only mean parents can have a private space to relax and eat, but it will also mean that they can remain just moments away from their sick child.
Ward sister Liz said “The décor of the new parent room makes the space feel different to the main ward areas. This is really important, as it allows our families to feel as though they’ve stepped away from the busy ward and into a relaxing space, but in reality they are just moments away from their children. It’s made a big difference to the wellbeing of our families, and we’re so grateful to everybody who made this happen.”
Huge thanks go to Willmott Dixon, and the Marson family for their wonderful support.
