We were proud to announce our next major fundraising project last night for the Emergency Department at Bristol children’s hospital, at the launch of the Morph: Still Naughty at 40! Exhibition. Today we opened the doors of our new exhibition at the Gromit Unleashed Shop at The Mall at Cribbs Causeway, celebrating the iconic character’s 40th birthday with 20 unique sculptures, an interactive green screen, Make Your Own Morph and lots of other activities for the whole family to enjoy!
150 eager guests poured into the Gromit Unleashed shop last night for a sneak peek of the exhibition, and were the first to experience the Morph-themed activities there. Welcomed by Grand Appeal trustees and Morph co-creators Peter Lord and David Sproxton, visitors were also introduced to Giles Haythornthwaite, a consultant at the children’s hospital Emergency Department and spokesperson for The Grand Appeal. He explained how any donation, no matter how big or small, will help support staff, patients and their families in the leading Emergency Department, with our Appeal providing vital support for the 40,000 poorly babies and children treated there each year.
With an ever-expanding population under its care which has doubled in under 4 years, the children’s Emergency Department is in need of expansion and renovation. Our latest appeal to support the department will transform the waiting area, create an area for adolescent patients, expand the Resus area, and provide much-needed facilities for families. The Resus (resuscitation) area, where the most critically ill babies and children are treated is equipped with the latest lifesaving equipment, but this appeal will give the specialist team further space to treat young patients, as well as provide an additional pioneering Resuscitaire to increase its capacity as a leading Major Trauma Centre in the UK.
Work has already begun, and with your help, we can help save lives and support sick children and their families from all over the South West who are dependent on this vital service. Get involved and make a difference to your paediatric Emergency Department, and make your way to our Gromit Unleashed shop at The Mall at Cribbs Causeway this summer. The exhibition, now open to the public until 5th September, is free to enter with a suggested donation of £2, and will be accompanied by an exclusive range of Morph merchandise – proceeds from which will go straight to our Emergency Department Appeal for Bristol Children’s Hospital. It’s the perfect day out for the whole family, all for a wonderful cause.
