Morrisons Foundation donates over £170,000 to family accommodation
The Morrisons Foundation has donated £179,300 to help provide accommodation for families of sick children at Bristol Children’s Hospital.
More and more families are travelling greater distances to have their children receive specialist care in Bristol and as a result, are often left with nowhere to stay. This generous donation will help us fund new accommodation just a short walk from the Children’s Hospital, helping to ensure that families can remain close to their child during treatment.
Our Corporate Partnerships Manager Helen Haskell said:
“The absolutely incredible amount gifted to us by the Morrisons Foundation will help the house make a crucial difference to the experience of both future patients and their families at what is an extremely distressing time for them. We cannot thank the Morrisons Foundation enough for their generous support which will help families from across the whole of the South West of England.”
The Morrisons Foundation was set up by Morrisons supermarkets in 2015 and gets most of its funding from the sale of single-use carrier bags. Since launching, over £10 million has been given to charities throughout England, Scotland and Wales for charity projects which make a positive difference in local communities.
David Scott, Trustee of the Morrisons Foundation, added: “We’re delighted to be awarding this donation to The Grand Appeal, which supports young patients and their families from Bristol and beyond. We know that charities from across the South West are delivering important work and we’re keen to ensure that as many of these as possible can benefit from the funding we have on offer. We’d love to hear from charities in the area and I would recommend visiting www.morrisonsfoundation.com to find out how to apply for funds.”
