Pete and Lisa Craske’s son Thomas was cared for by the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit and Cardiac Unit in Bristol Children’s Hospital, following severe problems with his heart and lungs, and sadly passed away at just 5 weeks old. In order to support both the departments where Thomas was cared for, the family organised an epic ‘Trek for Thomas’, which involved a team of 5 people not only scaling the heights of the 3 Peaks Challenge, but also cycling between each mountain, and finally cycling back to Bristol as well.
The team, which included Thomas’s dad and uncle, climbed 3,400 metres, cycled 600 miles, and raised over £35,000 in total. Pete says: "If we can raise funds to help others get the fantastic care that Thomas received then something positive will have come from this very sad event. Whilst driving to and from hospital each day we knew that we wanted to do a charity event to help The Grand Appeal, whatever the outcome."
