Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal was founded in 1995, to raise £11 million towards the planned £22 million cost of the new Royal Hospital for Children in Bristol. In the end, in addition to the £11 million, we also raised an extra £1 million towards a wonderful programme of art in the new hospital.

But we couldn’t have done this without the support of thousands of people, schools, companies and other organisations throughout Bristol and the South West who made it possible. And, of course, our Very Special Friends, Wallace & Gromit!!

Bristol-based Aardman allow the Appeal to use the characters and created our unique banknote logo back in 1996. All this success, means that Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal is now established as the charity of choice for many in Bristol and the South West.

The Grand Appeal is now firmly established as a revenue appeal raising funds for additional comforts, services and equipment for patients and their families. We are currently committed to raising funds for:

A dedicated new limb reconstruction service to revolutionise the way in which children with limb abnormalities can be treated.

• An art and entertainment programme for the patients in the hospital
