Ellie England

A young patient at Bristol Children’s Hospital has presented the cardiac ward where she had heart surgery with a new machine to monitor heart rhythms.

Ellie England, from Brislington in Bristol gave staff the ECG machine, paid for with the fundraising efforts of her parents, Helen & Geoff, brother George, and other family and friends.

Born with Down’s syndrome and several heart defects, Ellie was just 1 when she underwent heart surgery at the hospital and has become a frequent visitor.

So far the family has raised over £4,000 through a range of activities.

Ellie’s mum, Helen said ‘Fundraising for the Grand Appeal is our way of saying thank you to the hospital for their great care of Ellie. We have lots of fun organizing the charity events, which are brilliantly supported and also raise awareness of Down’s syndrome and it’s associated problems, such as heart defects.
