As Christmas – the traditional celebration of the birth of baby Jesus – approaches, we have chosen a very special hospital unit to fundraise for that is dedicated to providing the best maternal and baby care for mothers diagnosed with high risk pregnancies. Being pregnant is a such a special time and every expectant mother wants the best for the precious baby that is growing inside her. However, around 1% of all babies will be affected by congenital heart disease,with the individual risk being higher if there is a family history of heart conditions.

The Fetal Cardiology Unit based at St Michael’s hospital, looks after patients across the region and offers a weekly consultation and ultrasound clinic. It is available every day for emergencies or additional patients. To meet the growing demand for this service we need your help to raise £30,000 to create a new dedicated Fetal Cardiology Unit with the latest equipment to provide the best possible care for expectant mothers and make a huge difference, not only to the unit, but to the welfare of future generations.
