| THE IMPORTANCE OF GIFT AID
Gift Aid is run by the Inland Revenue and can increase the amount of money raised by 25%.
Anyone who pays tax (income tax, capital gains tax, etc, etc) can make their donation ‘tax-effective’ which means that Wallace & Gromit’s Grand appeal can claim Gift Aid on the donation.
It is a relatively simple system and explanations are given below, but if you have any questions, contact us.
Example A: Mr Smith is a taxpayer. He sponsors you £1 to do an event. If he ticks the Gift Aid box on the sponsorship form and provides his address, Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal can claim an extra 25p from the Inland Revenue at no extra cost to you or him, making a total donation of £1.25.
Example B: Miss Jones is a taxpayer. She sponsors you £10 to do an event. She ticks the gift aid box and writes down her address enabling Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal to claim £2.80 from the Inland Revenue, making a total donation of £12.80.
Whatever the rate of tax, the lower band, the standard band or the higher-rate tax band, Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal can reclaim Gift Aid at no extra cost to the donor.
Wallace & Gromit’s Grand appeal is responsible for collecting the Gift Aid payment from the Inland Revenue.
Therefore, to help us maximise our income, please ensure that all of your sponsors who are taxpayers:
- tick the box in the Gift Aid column of the sponsorship form, and
- provide the first line of their home address together with their postcode.
