Paediatric MRI Scanner
Over the last few years, The Grand Appeal has funded a new dedicated paediatric MRI Scanner for the Children’s Hospital costing £1.4 million. The Scanner allows patients in the Children’s Hospital direct access to the scanner which is situated in the BRI in a child-friendly area with the most up-to-date technology.
Syringe Drivers for the Oncology Ward
The syringe drivers were funded to help with the administration of chemotherapy in patients suffering from cancer and leukemia. The syringe drivers allow the chemotherapy to be administered in a safe and time efficient manner through being able to alter fluid amount and preventing the chemotherapy from running up to 4 hours over the required time and putting an unacceptable strain on both the patient and the family who are now involved in the care of the child at the bedside. The Syringe Drivers have significantly improved the standard of care for patients and their family in the hospital’s Oncology ward.
Equipment and Facilities in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit
The Appeal has funded ventilators, monitors, comforts and facilities for the Unit for the benefit of patients and their families. The Unit has on-going needs which the Appeal seeks to support where statutory funds are unavailable to ensure that the most up-to-date technology is available on the Unit and to support the excellent work provided by the professionals staff on the Unit. |
